Ask your realtor to check out the interior pictures of homes listed for sale in your neighborhood or price range.  That will tell you what interior features and finishes buyers might expect.  If your home seems dated, make improvements.  Don't go overboard.  If you're going to remodel, do it well.  If you're not proficient - hire a professional.   You can devalue your property with a poorly executed project.
